The Governing Council, in exercise of its powers enshrined in section 5.3.12 of the Code of Governance for Private Universities Regulations, has considered, and approved the appointment of Hajiya Hauwa Abubakar as Registrar of North-Eastern University, Gombe for a period of five years, effective from the date she assumed office in acting capacity.

Hajiya Hauwa, holds a B. Sc. degree in Sociology, PGDM, and MBA with more than 17 years of extensive experience in the Higher Education management. Over the course of her career, she held various positions and roles coordinating University program formulation and management, strategic planning, development and operationalization of higher education policies, admissions, recruitment, student affairs as well as academic advising; study abroad, and internship advising; complex Registrar’s systems and databases of which 15 years was with the American University of Nigeria, Yola.

A recipient of the 2014 outstanding staff award at the American University of Nigeria,Yola, her passion for community development has seen her support and facilitates programs aimed at improving the quality of life of vulnerable populations like the feed-and-read program for Almajiri and out-of-school young girls. Prior to her appointment as Acting Registrar, she was a Deputy Registrar, North-Eastern University, Gombe (Formerly, Pen Resource University, Gombe).

The Governing Council, also in exercise of its powers enshrined in section 10.4.1 of the Code of Governance for Private Universities Regulations, has, considered, and approved the appointment of Dr. Mohammed Sani Isyaka as Deputy Vice-Chancellor of this great university for a period of five (5) years with immediate effect.

Dr M S Isyaka holds a B. Sc. and M. Sc. in Chemistry from the University of Abuja, and a Ph.D. in Organic and Natural Products Chemistry at the University of Surrey, UK. He is a member of various prestigious organizations such as the Royal Society of Chemistry (MRSC), American Chemical Society, Chemical Society of Nigeria, Science Association of Nigeria and a member of the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria.

He served as the Secretary to the Planning and Implementation Committee (PIC) of North-Eastern University (formerly, Pen Resource University, Gombe). He has been awarded several National and International Grants to investigate African Croton species in a bid to find novel molecules with anticancer properties. He is an ardent scholar with over 50 publications in reputable highly ranked journals within and outside Nigeria. He is currently the Director, Academic Planning and Quality Assurance, North-Eastern University, Gombe (Formerly, Pen Resource University, Gombe).

His current research focuses on the assessment of the potentials of Croton seed oil extraction as a source of high value products for the cosmetic, biofuel and agricultural industry in Nigeria.
